They work great on a hat to get the dirt and dust BUT THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE! We use them constantly at the store. Why? Any little spot on clothing that is not truly soiled with food or drink will wipe off instantly with these. I do not know why, I just know they work! I use them at home to get any little spots off rather than having to wash my jeans that are fine to wear again minus one annoying little spot. You literally just wipe/rub the spot with the sponge and it either completely goes away or is unnoticeable. All I can tell you is you don't know you need one, but you do!!!
